From a College Project to 5,000+ Users: The Story & Important Legal Note

I wanted to write this post to share the real story behind Jammify, clear up some important points about how this app works, and address what the future holds. Honestly, when I pushed the very first commit of this project, I never expected to be writing an update like this.

How Jammify Started: Just a College Side Project

A few months ago, I started building Jammify purely as a side project while in college. Like many of you, I was frustrated with clunky interfaces, intrusive audio ads, and slow web players. So, I decided to build a clean, fast, high-fidelity web player for myself and my close college friends.

It was strictly built as a learning experiment — a way for me to sharpen my full-stack web development skills, test out complex UI animations, practice working with APIs, and build a project I'd actually use daily on campus.

Hitting 5,000+ Users (Wait, What?!)

Fast forward to today: Jammify has unexpectedly crossed over 5,000+ active users from all across the country. People started sharing it with their friends, posting about it online, and importing their playlists every day. Watching people actually use and enjoy something I built in my college dorm has been surreal and humbling.

An Important Note on Copyright & Music Rights

Because the app grew way larger than the small student experiment it was meant to be, I want to be 100% transparent and open with everyone:

• I do not own any rights or copyrights to any of the songs, audio tracks, or artwork streamed through this app.
• Jammify is a personal portfolio and educational web development project. It is 100% free, non-commercial, and does not charge any money or sell subscriptions.
• All rights to the music, names, and artwork belong entirely to their respective artists, songwriters, record labels, and copyright owners.

What Happens If Legal Issues Arise?

I built this purely to learn and build great software. I have zero intention of infringing on anyone's intellectual property or getting tangled in legal disputes or lawsuits.

If any artist, record label, or copyright holder has any issue with their content or raises legal concerns, I will respect their rights immediately and take down or shutdown the website without hesitation. If that happens, I'll take it as an awesome learning experience, improve my skills, and focus on building my next project.
